Bagworms Bagworms have been a problem in Fillmore County and surrounding areas. Lancaster County Extension has put together a great handout and a YouTube video explaining the life cycle of this pest. I’d highly encourage you to check them out! Bagworms won’t begin hatching till late May/early June with the best time to spray being mid to late June in most years. Cercospora in Cedar Trees Cedar trees in windbreaks and some landscape Junipers have foliage turning brown. If browning is in the lower and inner part of the tree, Cercospora blight may be the cause. Fungicides such as Mancozeb or Bordeaux mixture need to be applied once in mid June and again in late July for control. This is the time of year the fungal spores that cause new infections are released; hence the time fungicides will be effective.
